Thanks to extensive product testing in all stages in our labs, we are able to offer you a wide range of technical solutions. The videos below explain each safety feature that gets tested.
Impact test
All Safety footwear needs to withstand an impact force of 200 Joules while keeping enough clearance to protect your toes. This is tested by dropping a standardized weight of 20kg on a finished shoe, from a height of 1 meter.
Penetration test
This test determines the penetration resistance of the outsoles, in order to prevent that nails or other sharp objects can enter the shoes when being stepped on.
Impact test toecap
This is a test on component level to verify if the toecaps can withstand an impact force of 200 joules while keeping enough clearance to protect your toes. This is tested by dropping a standardized weight of 20kg on the toecap itself, from a height of 1 meter.
ASTM electrical hazard test
We check if the shoes are electrically insulating, in order to protect the wearer when being subjected to a voltage of 18kV.
Upper sole bond strength
This test measures the force needed to take of the outsole from the shoes, to be sure that the shoes meet both the official standards and our internal quality requirements.
Compression resistance test
All safety footwear needs to protect your toes when being subjected to a compression force of 15 kN (= over 1500kg!!). We use a compression plate to apply 15kN on the toecap area and verify if there is sufficient space left to protect your toes.
Outsole interlayer bond strength
This test determines the force needed to separate the outsole from the midsole, in order to be sure that the shoes meet both the official standards and our internal quality requirements.
Compression test on naked toecap
This is a test on component level to verify if the toecaps can withstand a compression force of 15 kN (= over 1500kg!!). We use a compression plate to apply 15kN on the toecap itself and verify if there is sufficient space left to protect your toes.
Antistatic test
We determine the electrical conductivity of our shoes in order to avoid a buildup of electrostatic energy. This is needed to eliminate the risk on electric shocks from electrical equipment and to prevent sparks that could start a fire and an explosion.
Outsole abrasion resistance test
We verify in what degree the outsole material is abrading when being used on rough and hard-wearing surfaces, in order to be sure that the shoes meet both the official standards and our internal quality requirements.
SRC slip-resistance test
To ensure maximum grip and avoid accidents due to slipping we test the friction of our outsoles on different surfaces. SRA slip resistance is tested on a ceramic tile covered in water and soap. SRB slip resistance is tested on smooth steel covered with glycerol. If the outsole passes both tests, it gets the SRC rating.
ESD test
This test determines if our footwear complies with the electrostatic discharge standards (ESD). ESD footwear protects electrical equipment by creating a very controlled discharge of electrostatic energy and avoid sparks which could start a fire or explosion.
Martindale abrasion resistance test
To make sure that the materials used on our shoes meet our quality standards we test their resistance against abrasion. We subject the materials to repeated friction and check the material durability.
Dynamic water resistance test
This test evaluates the degree of water resistance of our safety shoes and boots. We flex the footwear in a water bath at a constant rate and inspect if there is water penetration.
Outsole flexing test
This test measures the outsole flexing resistance by flexing the outsole at a certain speed and angle. That way, we can guarantee high quality and durability of our footwear.
